Assalam-o-Alaikum.
Let me be upfront with you.
I run Musteqbil.com as a solo blogger. I’m not a big corporation. I don’t have a legal team hiding in some fancy office. I don’t collect your data to sell it to strangers.
But — because the internet works the way it works, and because Google AdSense requires this, and because you deserve to know what’s happening behind the scenes — here’s my honest privacy policy.
What information do I actually collect?
Very little. Intentionally.
Here’s the complete list:
- Comments – If you leave a comment on any article, I see your name (whatever you type), your email address, and your IP address. This stops spam and lets me reply to you. I don’t share this with anyone.
- Email contacts – If you email me at
musteqbil [at] gmail [dot] com, I keep your message. I don’t add you to any newsletter unless you explicitly ask me to. - Basic analytics – I use Google Analytics (or a lightweight alternative like Umami) to see things like: how many people visited, which articles are popular, and roughly where readers are from (country/city level). I cannot see your personal browsing history, your name, or your address.
That’s it. Seriously.
I do not collect:
- Your home address
- Your phone number (unless you give it to me in an email)
- Your payment details (I don’t sell products directly)
- Your browsing history outside Musteqbil.com
Cookies — yes, those little browser files
Cookies are tiny text files that websites store on your device. They’re not dangerous. They don’t spy on you.
How I use cookies:
- To remember your comment preferences (so you don’t have to re-type your name every time)
- To understand which articles people read most (via analytics)
- For AdSense to show relevant ads (more on that below)
You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Your reading experience might feel slightly less smooth, but you absolutely can do that. I won’t stop you.
Google AdSense — the real talk
Musteqbil.com uses Google AdSense to show ads. This is how I keep the website running without charging readers.
What AdSense collects:
- Your IP address
- The type of device you’re using (phone, laptop, tablet)
- Approximate location (city level, not your house)
- Your browsing behavior on this site (which articles you read, how long you stay)
AdSense uses this to show you ads that are actually relevant. For example: if you read my article about forensic DNA technology, you might see an ad for a science kit or a documentary. That’s not me spying. That’s Google doing its job.
You can control this:
Google provides a tool called “Ad Settings” where you can opt out of personalized ads. Visit adssettings.google.com to manage this.
If you’re in Pakistan, EU, UK, or California (USA), you may see a cookie consent popup when you first visit. Please don’t hate me for it — it’s legally required, not my choice.
Third-party links — I don’t control them
Sometimes I link to other websites. For example:
- Official defense department sites (DPAA, ISPR, etc.)
- News articles
- Research papers
- YouTube videos
Once you click a link and leave Musteqbil.com, I have zero control over what that other site does with your data. Go read their privacy policy if you’re concerned.
Your rights (yes, you have rights)
Even though I’m a solo Pakistani blogger, I respect your privacy rights:
- You can ask me what data I have about you – Email me. I’ll tell you honestly.
- You can ask me to delete your data – Comments, emails, etc. I’ll delete them within 7 days.
- You can opt out of analytics – Use a browser extension like “Do Not Track” or uBlock Origin.
I don’t sell your data. I don’t rent it. I don’t trade it like cricket cards.
Children’s privacy — a hard no
Musteqbil.com is not for children under 13.
I don’t knowingly collect information from kids. If I discover that a comment or email came from someone under 13, I will delete it immediately. No questions asked.
If you’re a parent and you believe your child shared data with me, email me and I’ll wipe it out.
Data security — how I protect you
I use:
- Strong passwords (long and random)
- Two-factor authentication on my email and hosting account
- Regular malware scans via my hosting provider
That said — no website is 100% hack-proof. If a breach ever happens, I will:
- Fix it immediately
- Post a public notice on Musteqbil.com
- Email anyone whose data was affected (if I have their email)
I’ve never had a breach. I hope to keep it that way.
Changes to this policy
The internet changes. Laws change (hello, Pakistan’s evolving data protection laws). AdSense changes.
If I update this privacy policy, I will:
- Change the “Last updated” date at the top
- Write a small notice on the homepage for 7 days
- Explain what changed and why
I won’t sneak in shady clauses while you’re sleeping.
International readers (including Pakistan)
This website is operated from Pakistan. Pakistani privacy laws apply.
If you’re reading from the European Union (GDPR), the UK, or California (USA), I comply with your local laws to the best of my ability. For GDPR specifically: my legal basis for processing your data is “legitimate interest” (running a blog and showing ads). You can request data deletion anytime.
Contact me about privacy
If you have any question about this privacy policy — even if you just want to understand a part that sounds confusing — email me:
Email: musteqbil [at] gmail [dot] com
Subject line: PRIVACY QUESTION (so I spot it quickly)
I will reply within 5-7 days.
The one-line promise
Here’s the truth you won’t get from big websites:
I run Musteqbil because I love writing and helping people understand things. I don’t run it to spy on you, sell your information, or trick you. Your data is safe here. Not because of fancy legal words. Because I’m a real person who wouldn’t want his own data abused.
That’s my real privacy policy.
Now go read something interesting.
